MFP's Tututorial Time on SpeedyTV - Flap Card

Mark’s Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.

Tutorial Time SpeedyTV

Kathy Bradley – TTSTV DT

FLAP CARD TUTORIAL

I sure hope you have enjoyed our weekly Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV sponsored by Mark’s Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.   I know I have learned so many new techniques.  I was always one to stay inside my simple card making bubble, but, wow, I am still learning from all of the awesome tutorials and hope you are enjoying them too!

Okay, let’s get started, shall we!

Step 1 - Supplies you’ll need:

3-1/2” x 11” piece of cardstock
3-1/4” x 4” piece of design paper to coordinate with your cardstock
3-1/4” x 4” piece of white or neutral cardstock (used inside of flap card)
Coluzzle or other circular cutting system
Paper Cutter
Scoring Board (or whatever you use for scoring i.e. paper cutter, bone folder, etc.)
BasicGrey magnetic snaps or a similar product
Dimensionals
Adhesive
Stamps, Ink, cardstock upon which to stamp and any embellishments, if desired.

Step 2 – Using your Coluzzle template – cut one end of your paper using the outer most rim of the template and cut the edge – see above.

Step 3 – Using the same piece of cardstock (on which you just used the Coluzzle), measure a total of 10-3/8” on your trimmer and cut off the remainder.  So, from the top to the bottom, the cardstock should measure 10-3/8”.

Step 4 – Using your scoring tools – place your cardstock as shown above and score at 4-1/4” and 8-1/2”.

Step 5 – Fold at score lines.  Take the 3-1/4” x 4” piece of designer paper and adhere to the outside of the lower flap.

Step 6 – This picture shows exactly where you should have adhered your designer paper.

Step 7 – Stamp your image you will be putting on the flap.  For this card – I used Welcome Poppies by Mark’s Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  Color as desired.  And, I matted my image once it was colored.  I used Spellbinder’s Circle Dies and Spellbinder’s Scalloped Circle dies and used dimensionals to adhere the image to the flap.

Step 8 – As you can see, this is the result of Step 7 – and I’ve attached my image with dimensionals.

Step 9 – As you can see, I’ve taken the magnetic closures and adhered one to the back of my image on the flap and one on the inside panel of the card.

Step 10 – I’ve taken a piece of white cardstock and matted it with a piece of orange cardstock to cover the magnet and adhered it to the inside panel of the card.

This is my flap card!  Remember, you can alter it as you like with embellishments, some other shape for the main image panel, etc.

Thanks for joining us today and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!  Remember each Friday is Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV.  Just to go SpeedyTV and click on the Tutorial Time Challenge tab!

Happy Crafting!

Sabina, one of the very talented members of the CCEE Stampers Design Team, has given us the challenge to make our own background and/or DP.

I simply used the same as the main image, but stamped off before I stamped the images in the BG and then I took some TH distress ink and rubbed it over the blue flowers and CS.  Then I just stamped my main image in full color and added just of bit of TH ink around the borders of the image.

Why not join us at the CCEE Stampers challenge this week and drop your card into Mr. Linky for all to enjoy!

Stamp:  SU Blooming with Kindness
Paper:  SU Bashful Blue and Not Quite Navy; MFP White Premium Heavy 140 lb. CS
