Two Cards

The first card (Batman) was for Dell's Dani's Musical Challenge 04 on SCS - for a little boy by the name of Benjamin who is very, very sick and undergoing treatments.  His 7th birthday is coming and Dani hoped we could send some cheer and smiles to Benjamin by sending him some cards.  His favorite character is Batman.  I'm mailing the card to little Benjamin tomorrow with happy birth and well wishes.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Clip art
Paper:  SU Baja Breeze CS and Seven Gypsies DP
Sentiment: Computer generated
Accessories:  SU pop dots

The second card today is just a simple Christmas card.  I love that ornament and thought it would be pretty hanging on a branch.  No reason for this card - just wanted to use the ornament, so I made another Christmas card for my stash.

I got a couple of cards finished today and another image colored and waiting to be used.
Gosh, it's kind of nice today - it's suppose to get up to about 50 and it's 47 right now.

Well, I've got to run a couple of errands, so Later Gator!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO MY FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FELLOW BLOGGERS - HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY!

This card is for Danni's Flutterby Wednesday #132 challenge.  As always, you must use an angel, butterfly or fairy on your card, but this week - it also had to have a "thank you" on the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Poinsettia Fairy Decoupage/The Crafty Purple Frog for
              Ching-chou Kuik
Paper:  DCWV Metallic; SU Real Red and other DP Unknown - sitting in a stack of unmarked 6x6 papers
Accessories:  Sizzlet snowflake; Ranger Stickles; SU pop dots

I'm a bit short on time tonight, as probably everyone is - the eve before a holiday, but just wanted to get my card loaded up before tomorrow.

Later Gator!

MMSC81

This card is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #81 over at Priscilla's blog.  I got this little patchwork reindeer when I got my patchwork chicken and cow.  I think that they are all cute little images and can be colored any sets of colors that strike your fancy.  I cut this little fellow out and popped him up on pop dots.  I think the sketch may have had a stitch pattern on it - but I don't sew.  I guess I could have done some faux stitching.  I've seen bloggers punch holes all around the picture and actually sew twine or thread through the holes.  I've also seen some bloggers just draw the faux stitches on the card.  Well, I guess this card will just have to be stitchless.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Patchwork Reindeer - Beccy's Place
Paper:  Basic Gray Jovial; SU Bashful Blue and Early Espresso
Ink:  Copics (Forgot to list them again - sorry)
Accessories:  Ranger Stickles and SU Pop Dots

Well, this is the second post of the evening - so not much chatter.  Later Gator!

MMTPT121

A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE - ENJOY THE DAY!

This card is for Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #121.  This week the destination station is London, Ohio.  The recipient of the cards owns and operates a Victorian tea house, but has been unable to have many tea parties this year due to her health problems.  So, the teapotters are on a mission to send her well wishes and also a Happy Birthday.  I hope Brenda enjoys all the cards from the teapotters.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Digi Colored - Leigh Grady; SU sentiment
Paper:  Basic Gray Olivia; SU Whisper White; Baja Breeze and Blushing Bride
Ink:  Copics and Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  SU Pop dots

Yesterday, the temperature was a record high of 74 in this area (and rain/thunderstorms) and by 10:00 p.m. last night it had dipped over 30 degrees.  The high today was in the low 40's which is much more seasonal.

Yesterday, I got one card made - but just barely.  I just had one of those days when all my ideas were bad.  I even checked some sketches and still nothing would come together.  But this afternoon, I got 2 cards made and the image for a third card ready -- everything just fell into place today - where yesterday it was like working a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces.

Well, I may load up another card later tonight.  So, later gator!

Christmas Card - Happy Birds

This image made me smile when I saw it on the Doodle Pantry site.  So, at first I colored the image and was going to leave it on white CS, but I made a mistake when I was shadowing the image and, therefore, that made the call for me to cut it out and pop it up.  Let me tell you that cutting out the green pine needles was not easy.  It took longer to cut it out than it did to color it.   But, geez, I always liked to color as a kid and then when my son was little, he enjoyed it for a short time, as did my grandson - and I am still coloring - with just a different medium.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Christmas Birdies - Digi - Doodle Pantry
Paper:  Cosmo Cricket - Winter Mittens and SU Whisper White CS and Real Red
Ink:  Copics:  Birds B000, 00, 01; Pine Needles 29; YG03; Branch: E25, 27, 29; Beaks/Feet Y38; Holly Berries: R29; Hats/Cape/Earmuffs:  R27,29; Berry Leaves YG17
Accessories:  Red Ribbon

It has been another ucky day - it did get up to 72 degrees, but it was very humid.  Weather Bug gave an alert of a tornado watch until 6:00 p.m. tonight and right now it's raining and thundering.  A thunderstorm going on near the end of November - that is just too weird.   Oh well, I'm sure all my white pines can use the drink, as well as my other plants and trees - even though they've gone dormant.

I can't believe how fast this year has gone.  My Mom used to say the older you get the faster the time flies - and she was right - unfortunately!   Life should be where you have "overs" and get at least 3 go rounds at it - and each time you do better and get things right (keeping all memories so you don't repeat the same mistakes).   But since I was asked for my opinion - I guess it doesn't matter - although it does seem like a good idea to me.

I guess I should sign off now, have to do some laundry.  So, later gator!

Christmas Angel

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HANDSOME SON, CHAD - AND MANY, MANY MORE TO COME!  LOVE - MOM!

This image is from Crissy Armstrong at Whimsy Stamps - called Little Christmas Angel.  I though she was adorable.  In fact, there aren't any of Crissy's stamps that I don't love - her line of carousel horses is amazing!

Today is my son's birthday - could you tell from the above small font I used?!  He is the sweetest a son could be - and he is one of my heroes - along with my husband, Jim - and my Dad - who passed away in 1989.  My Dad's birthday would have been November 10th.  Lots of love to them all!

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Digi - Little Christmas Angel - Crissy Armstrong/Whimsy Stamps
Paper:  Basic Gray Capella DP; SU Whisper White CS
Ink:  Copics (Someone recently asked me if I would start listing the Copics used on my images - and I keep forgetting, but I will next image I use Copics on).
Accessories:  Nesties; Misc. Ribbon; Skeleton Leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts; and Ranger Stickles

I made a card for my son - which I really like how it turned out - but I can't upload it until I give it to my son.  I used suede paper on it - which was pretty cool.

Today is an ucky day - chilly and overcast.  I guess it could be uckier - it could be raining or snowing - right!  So I'm not really complaining.  The next couple of days it's suppose to be in the mid-60's, but then high in the 30's for the holiday.  But look at it this way, we are nearing the end of November and I've only had to use a jacket a couple of days - no winter coats out yet - which is good.

Well, I hope you like the card, but I've got to go - my cats are hollering for their lunch - and they are circling like vulchers waiting!  So, Later Gator!

MMSC80

This card is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #80 over at Priscilla's blog.  The sketch was interesting this week.  Added the little ribbon flags with pearls per the sketch.  There is always a choice between the clean and simple challenge or the embellished challenge.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Pre-Colored Digi - Emma the Caroler - Fred, She Said
Paper:  SU Candy Cane DP; SU Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Baja Breeze CS
Accessories:  Misc. ribbon and SU half pearls

It was fairly cool today - about mid-40's and right now it is 38 degrees.  However, next week is suppose to be in the 60's again.

I took my car into the Chrysler dealer in Springfield for an inspection, since she has so many miles now and the service book said it needed to be inspected for a few things at this many miles.  So, after the inspection, they replaced the timing belt (which included replacement of a few things, including the water pump, antifreeze spark plugs and wires, ) and during the inspection, they also found that the lower control arm bushings had split and were metal to metal (steering arms)  So, it went from a 3 figure job to a 4 figure job.  They did save the parts so that my husband could look them over and he agreed - it needed all that work.  Well, that was an expensive gynecological appointment for my car - but she is in good shape now!  Oh, by the way, the hazardous waste disposal fee for the antifreeze was $32.00 - which was more than the actual new antifreeze they put in - doesn't that seem backwards or strange?!

Well, gee, that's all the good news I have for you today.

Later Gator.

Hi to my sweet family!

This card is for Danni's Flutterby Wednesday challenge.  Danni made a sketch for this challenge (optional), but you must have an angel, butterfly or fairy on your card.  I love these digi images from Stitchy Bear - it is a fun place to shop for digis.  They have such a wide range of stamps.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Precious Pixies - Stitchy Bear
Ink:  Copic
Paper:  Basic Gray Jovial; SU Whisper White and Real Red CS
Accessories:  Nesties round and pendant; Wild Orchid - poinsettia; Ranger Stickles

So, this is a short post, I still have one more card I will try and get done tonight for Midnight Madness - but I'm not totally sure I'll get that one finished.

So, Later Gator!

Mojo Monday 165

Hugs and love to my family!

This is a card I made for the Mojo Monday 165 challenge.  It's my first time with this challenge, but I really liked the sketch this week and thought I'd just link my card.  I followed the sketch to a tee.  Originally, I made a wreath to put where the circle is, but my wreath ended up gihugic - so I had to put it aside and come up with something else for that part.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Digi colored Fred, She Said Cardinal
Ink:  Sentiment - Marina Mist
Paper:  Sparkly paper from Scrap Your Story; Whisper White and Not Quite Navy CS
Accessories:  SU Top Note die; Nesties circles; and Misc. ribbon

I will be back later today, I think, as I have a couple more cards to make for a few challenges, plus a couple of cards to write notes in and mail.

So, for now, Later Gator!

MMTPT120

Hugs and kisses to my family!

This card is going to a lady who is about to celebrate her 88th birthday - Evelyn.  Evelyn is the mother of one of our teapotters and SCSer, JDMOMMY (Anne).  Evelyn's hobbies are gardening (irises); Boston Red Sox; driving her big green Cadillac, card making, etc.  I hope she gets a boat load of cards for her birthday.  I put a few little goodies in the envelope with her card, a Boston Red Sox logo and some ribbon to use on her cards.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Unknown
Paper:  Unknown
[I know, you're saying - "what do you know."
Ink:  Copics
Accessories:  Purple ribbon; Ranger Stickles

My sis and I went to card club tonight and, as usual, had a lot of fun.  We made 3 different Christmas cards - one of those being a gift card holder.  I will be making more of those since that is the bulk of my gifts this year - gift cards.

Driving home, I travel quite a few country roads and the deer were out and about.  I had to come to a full stop on one of the roads, because a big buck (I counted 11 points) just stood in the road looking at me.  Shortly, 4 does came bouncing across the road and the traffic warden (Mr. Buck) finally strolled - not jumped or ran - strolled slowly across the road!  He wasn't nervous or jumpy at all - but he was gorgeous!

Well, that's it for the blurb on the old blog tonight!  Later Gator!

Christmas Card

Hi to my family!! Love you!

I bought this set from SU recently and then forgot about it.  I pulled it out last evening and inked it up.  I searched all over for the Martha Stewart pine branch punch, but couldn't locate one anywhere.  So, I bought the McGill pine branch punch and used it for the first time on this card.  I put Stickles on the little branches, but it didn't show well in the photo.  I do sort of like how the card turned out.

Card Recipe:

Stamps:  SU A Cardinal Christmas
Paper:  SU Whisper White CS; Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather DP
Ink:  Copics
Accessories:  Nesties, McGill pine branch punch; Ranger Stickles

So, this will be a pretty short post this afternoon, as I have to get ready to go to card club this evening - it's always a fun time.

Later Gator!

DDMCC02

Love and hugs to my family!!

This card was made for Dell's Dani's Musical Challenge 02.  The song this week is Chain of Love.  While the outside of my card has nothing to do with chains, I copied a clip art picture off the web of hundreds of chain links -- and glued it inside of the card.  The chain links represent people from all over that the recipient of this card has brought together in one way or another!

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  SU Wings of Friendship
Ink:  SU Marina Mist
Paper:  SU Whisper White and Baja Breeze CS and Baja Breeze DP
Accessories:  SU Oval Punch and Ranger Stickles

Dani has asked that the recipient's name remain a surprise - until that person starts receiving her cards.

I've made another Christmas card, but finished it too late to take a good picture.  I'll shoot it tomorrow in the light of day - it's always better and load it up tomorrow.

I have been tired all day - maybe from getting over whatever little bug I had earlier this week.  Or, geez, maybe I'm just getting old and running down quicker - there's a cheery thought!  Boy, am I glad that thought ran through my mind!

I found a blog (which obviously has been around for a long time, but I just found it) called Mojo Monday.  It has some great sketches to use for card layouts and they have challenges.

Well, since I can't seem to stay awake and think - I better sign off for now.  So, Later Gator!

Peas on Earth - Just Made Me Giggle

When I saw this digi image at Whimsy Doodles, I literally laughed out loud and knew I had to have it.  Since I posted already today, I won't go on much in this post.  I hope it gives you a little smile as well!

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Digi image - Whimsy Doodles
Paper:  Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather
Ink:  SU Markers
Accessories:  Red ribbon

Thanks for looking.  Later Gator!

QFTD35

Hi to my sweet Sis (hope you are feeling better too).  Hi to my son and his darling family!

I'm feeling a bit better today, not quite totally up to par, but at least a bit better.  I had my flu shot, but this was an upper respiratory thing - and not pleasant - because it was hard to sleep.

This card was made in honor of Irishgreensue on SCS's Queen for the Day challenge 35.  Sue has a most awesome gallery of cards and, while browsing her gallery, I popped several into my favorites on SCS.  I opted to use one of Sue's Christmas cards, as I can always use another card in the stash.  Her card had a group of snowmen not matted.  All I did was to change colors, stamp and mat the sentiment and images - layout is basically the same too.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  SU Holiday Lineup
Paper:  SU CS and DP
Ink:  SU Markers
Accessories:  Ranger Stickles

I searched and searched the web for one of Martha Stewart's punches - it was a branch, but it was a pine tree branch.  I found one place that stocked it, but it was out of stock indefinitely.  You see the little punch all over SCS on Christmas cards and in blogland, but it must not be manufactured anymore, because it was nowhere to be found.  There were branch punches, but not the little pine tree branch.  Finally, I found one by Magill punches - same size, looks identical and I got it today.  I don't really like how the punch is made (it's a square punch and very difficult to "punch", (a lot of pressure is needed to push down to get the punched image), but the end result is the pine branch - so it's okay.

Well, yesterday it was 75 degrees and breezy and right now it's 45 and blustery.  30 degrees difference from  yesterday to today.  I was hoping the temperatures would hold a bit longer, but Mother Nature seems to want otherwise.  Geez, is she crabby or what!

Well, that's it for today.  I have another funny card I'm going to upload a bit later to my blog and SCS.  I doubt if it gets many looks or comments on SCS, but I just think it's cute and funny.  I probably won't have much commentary following it, but I will upload it shortly.

That's it for the blurb on the blog today.  Later Gator!

MMSC79

This is the other card I made last evening and it is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 79 over at Priscilla's blog.  I followed the more ornate of the two sketches and came up with this card.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I love those images.  The images are silhouettes and I added a bit of color to them as if the light picked up a bit of color.  I almost went with a blue background instead of black and blue images, but I changed my mind at the last minute.

Card Recipe:

Stamps:  Pixies - Stitchy Bear - digi
Ink:  What ink was used was from a Copic marker (B000)
Paper:  SU Whisper White CS; Michael's black CS; Black sparkle paper from Scrap Your Story
Accessories:  Nesties; Prima Silver Sparkle flowers; Sizzix die for the flourishes and SU gemstone brads

Second post today - so I won't blab on - you can read the post below for that.  Later Gator.

FB130

Hi to my handsome son, Chad, his pretty wife, Jen, and my cute and charming grandson, Taylor!  Also, a hi to my Sis who e-mailed me and said she had the sniffles - hope you are feeling better!  I have a stuffy head now and feel sort of crummy - woke up this morning and my head felt like a fish bowl - full of water and fish.

This is the window card I made for Danni's FB130 over at Flutter By Wednesdays.  The challenge dictates that you have an angel, butterfly or fairy and this week it had to be a window card.  I found the tutorial at SCS for this card.   I came across this stamp at Purrs and Pants right after my black cat, Blossum, passed away in September of this year.  Blossum was totally black (with the exception of a few gray hairs he had) and he was beautiful.  Anyway, people say that animals don't have souls, but I believe otherwise, because anything so sweet and loving will go to a happy place when they pass.  So, this is Blossum's angel holding and loving him for me.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Angel with Cat - Purrs and Pants
Ink: Copics
Paper:  Unknown - stash
Accessories:  SU pop dots for image and flower on front; SU pearls and rhinestones (on kitty and angel); Smooch

I read that today and  tomorrow are the last of the warm days this week.  Starting Saturday - it is suppose to only reach a high in the 50's and rain (now that is typical November weather).  It really has been extra nice the last few days - 70's and breezy and we are nearing mid-November.

Well, I have one more card to load up a bit later for another challenge.  I made these cards last night - which is a good thing because I feel really yukky today.

Later Gator!

MMTPT119

This is the card I made for Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #119.  This card will be going to a hospice center in Texas.  I checked around blogland to see if I could find some information on coloring a jar so that it looks like it has water in it - but as you can see above - I didn't find anything.  Actually, looking at the card in person - it does look like there is a bit of water in the jar, but it doesn't show well in the picture.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Digi - Fred, She Said - Gerbera Daisy in Jar
Ink:  Copics
Paper:  SU CS and Cosmo Cricket Togetherness DP
Accessories:  Ribbon; Smooch Pearlized Top Coat (for a bit of shine on the daisy)

Today, didn't get much accomplished in the office (hobby area) or around the house.  My honey of a husband and I went for a ride and then went and got something to eat.  It was so nice out, we just decided to take a ride - really to no place in particular - just in the country.

The temperature reached low 70's today, but a bit of wind.  I believe Weather Bug indicated it is suppose to be nice until the week-end and then a bit of a dip in the degrees.

I've got a couple of new techniques I want to try out tomorrow and see how they work - from a couple of tutorials I found on SCS - if I can keep the cats off my lap and desk long enough.

So, that's it for the blurb on the blog tonight.  It is about 10:45 p.m. and I am going to call it a night.  Later Gator.

Patchwork Chicken

I found this really cute digi image at Beccy's Place.  I thought it would be fun to color it and set it up in a card - she is just the cutest little chicken!  As a card, it is fairly simple and clean - not many embellishments - except the two buttons.  I also used one of the Nestie labels dies to cut her out.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Digi Beccy's Place
Ink:  Copics
Paper:  Cosmo Cricket Togetherness DP (I think) and SU Whisper White and Baja Breeze CS
Accessories:  Nesties - labels die; Buttons

So, today was pretty uneventful and I spent most of the day in my office - updating my stamp logs and straightening up my desk and scrap paper box.  I only made the one card today - but did get quite a bit accomplished in the office.

It was sunny and high 60's today and breezy.  I believe I heard that it is suppose to be in the mid-60's most of this week and sunny.  Perfect November weather, but I'm sure it won't be around too much longer - but you never know!

Hope everyone (where required) remembered to set back their clocks an hour last night.  We were driving back from Steak 'N Shake in Lincoln at 5:20 p.m. and it was dark - oh well.

Well, that's it for the blog tonight.  Later Gator.

Queen for the Day 34 / Michelle a/k/a Shellapoo on SCS

This is a card I submitted in honor of Michelle a/k/a Shellapoo on Splitcoast.  Until this last Summer, Michelle was a regular on Splitcoast, who made cards for the "chemo kids" in her area hospitals and centers.  She also made cards for the families of the chemo kids, and, sadly, sometimes sympathy cards.  Michelle has been doing this for many years, but this last Summer, her MS got to a point which made it impossible for her to work on cards.  So, the ladies involved in the Queen for the Day Challenge all decided to make cards to send to Michelle for her to put in her stash and use them to send to her chemo kids.  This is the second card I made for Michelle today.  I also went through my stash of cards and pulled out about 38 cards, plus the two cards today and have boxed them up and will mail them to Michelle on Monday.  I can make cards daily and, at least for now, Michelle can't,  and I know she'll put the cards to good use.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Whimsy, Meljen's Sweet Dreams (Digi)
Paper:  Cosmo Cricket Togetherness DP and Whisper White CS - SU
Ink:  Copics
Accessories:  Prima flowers and paper piecing on the jammies

It was really nice today (just a bit cool) - high about 51 and breezy.  We have a heat wave coming this week - mid to high 60's - woo hoo - get the flip flops back out!

Today, I did my usual Saturday stuff - cleaned the house and laundry.  Well, I usually do laundry every day - so it doesn't stack up.  I got a couple of set of Nesties I ordered - pendant styles - I am going to try a couple of Christmas cards with them tomorrow.

Tonight - remember to turn your clocks back and hour (Spring forward and Fall back).  So, it will be getting dark earlier now - geez time is flying by so quickly.

Well, that's it for tonight.  So, later gator!

Happy Anniversary on 11/5/2010 to my handsome son, Chad, and his pretty wife, Jen!

Hi Sis!

This is the card I made for Danni's Flutterby 129 challenge.  The image must be an angel, butterfly or fairy.  I went ahead and made up another Christmas card for the stash.  I put some glitter on her wings and on the little birds, but it didn't show up.  The digi image is from Fred, She Said and you can get this cute little image as an angel or a little girl caroling.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Emma the Caroling Angel - Fred, She Said (Digi)
Ink:  Copics
Paper:  SU DP Candy Cane and SU CS
Accessories:  Sizzix snowflake dies; SU rhinestones and Ranger Stickles

Today, I ran by my son's house and dropped off an Anniversary card for he and his wife.  Five years - and they are just the cutest couple together.  If every God made two people for each other - Chad and Jen are the ones.

It's brrrr today - although the temperature is 53 degrees - the wind is really gusty!  It is suppose to dip down in the high 20's tonight - double brrrr!  It rained for about 1 minute a bit ago - and then stopped and the sun returned - weird!

The political ads are done for now - yeah!!  I was sick to death of the mud slinging.

That's it for the blurb on the blog - Later Gator!

MMSC78

This card is for the MMSC78 over at Priscilla's blog.  She usually has 2 sketches one for embellishments and one plain.  The only embellishment on this card is the snowflake with a rhinestone on top of the tree.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Unknown
Paper:  Digital from Stitchy Bear; DCWV Metallic Stack
Ink:  Versamark and Silver embossing powder
Embellishments:  Sizzix snowflake; SU rhinestone

Have you tried to print a file directory on the newer software - it's not possible.  I wanted to print my digital stamp file directory and there is no option (even right clicking) to print.  Well, I just wanted a list to remind me what is on the drive, but oh well, it was a good idea.

In a bit of a rush today - so that's it for now. Later Gator!

Christmas Card

Hi Sis, Chad, Jen & Taylor!  Love you guys!

This is a Christmas Card we made at card club a few weeks ago (except we used a scalloped circle at club and mine was crooked - so I redid the snowflake when I got home and just left it as a whole circle and didn't use a scallop punch).
Card Recipe:

Stamps: SU Serene Snowflakes
Ink:  Bashful Blue
Paper:  SU CS
Accessories:  SU rhinestone and pop dots

I worked on a couple of different cards today - one I'll upload tomorrow for the MMSC78 (Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #78).  Today was pretty uneventful - my sweet husband and I went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and ran a few errands.  He put the rest of the porch/deck furniture in storage and cut back some more plants for the winter and a few other "getting ready for winter"  jobs around the house.

I have to get ready to watch my favorite show (until True Blood returns in June of 2011), Sons of Anarchy - it starts at 9:00 p.m.   The Sons are in Dublin trying to get Jackson's son back.

So, off to get my Sprite and settle in for the hour.

That's it for the blurb on the blog tonight.  Later Gator!
