Challenge at Mixed Media Place - Exercise 7

Hi - hope everyone has been having a wonderful week.  The weather here in Illinois has been in the 60's this week and mostly sunny.

This layout is for a challenge at the Mixed Media Place blog - Exercise 7  titled The Power of One - which is to use 1 color, 1 stencil, 1 stamp and black/white.  See below which I took from the blog.  Also, there is a direct link under the picture below which will take you to the challenge.

The rules are simple:

- use 1 stencil;

- 1 stamp;

- then pick 1 colour - and you can use paint/mists/inks/pencils/beads/glitter/embellishments etc in your chosen color, plus black and white everything as well (for example when choosing a photo).

You can use varying SHADES of the one colour you choose, going from dark to light. You can add PATTERN by way of the stamp you choose, patterned papers, chipboard and the stencil you choose. You can also add detail with TEXTURE by way of pastes and gels, fibres, beads and embellishments.Once you start you will find you are not really that restricted, and many creative ideas will become evident.

Recipe:

Paper:  White 12x12 card stock; Yellow and Black Cardstock and Scrap Pieces
Ink:  Black Staz-On on edges and on stamp; Lindy's Yellow Rose of Texas and Midnight Rendezvous Raven
Stamp:  Prima/Finnabair Vintage Vanity
Stencil:  Prima Petite Florals
Mediums:  Prima/Finnabair Clear Gesso; Prima/Finnabair Heavy Black Gesso; Prima/Finnabair Light Texture Paste Opaque Matte
Flowers:  Petaloo Botanical Yellow; Prima Yellow Flowers

Journal Pages

I have a few journal pages to share with you.  The top 2 sets were actually single pages I had left over from my last journal - but they would not fit into the journal as it was so full.  So, I taped them to paper and added them to my new larger journal.  The last set of pages were actually completed in my new journal - it is larger than the last one.  I used a Donna Downey floral stencil for the texture and the two sets of tulips on the pages are napkins skinned down to a single layer and added with gel medium.  I did use ink splatters on my page, but instead of spraying the whole page, I used Lindy's Magicals and just peppered the mica on the textures and misted with water.  I did a bit of stamping with a Bo Bunny texture stamp and added some chipboard.  All-in-all, I like how this set turned out.  Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Prima Build-A-Page April Challenge

This layout is for the April Prima Build-A-Page Challenge.  Below is the sketch to be followed for this challenge.

This is more of a clean mixed media page - but I like how it turned out.  I used Prima's new release Timeless Memories set.

Recipe:

Mediums:  Prima/Finnabair Art Basics Clear Gesso; Prima/Finnabair Art Basics Light Modeling Paste
Paper:  Prima Timeless Memories 12x12 paper kit (which includes chipboard, sequins, flowers, and more)
Inks:  Prima Bloom Spray Glistening Waves and Prima Bloom Spray Gold Foil (which I mixed together with the Light Paste)(and for splatters) and created texture behind the picture and in the bottom right corner); Ranger Vintage Photo around the edges; Black Staz-On for stamping
Stamps:  Prima/Finnabair Vintage Vantage and Limor Webber/Indigo Blue Rugged Edges
Misc.:  Circles made with bottle cap; Chipboard/feathers/sequins - part of  Prima's Timeless Memories Paper Kit

JUST FOR FUN LAYOUT

This layout is just for fun - I saw a layout by Amy Voorthuis and modeled this after hers - different colors, etc., but same idea.  I did ask Amy's permission first and she graciously gave it

I had some really old Thicker letters that I was going to toss - but decided to use those since they would be gessoed and embossed. I used 3 of the April Lindy Stamp Gang colors  and kept the background fairly clean.

Layout Recipe:

Paper:  Designer Paper Unknown - old and in my stash
Inks:  Lindy's Stamp Gang Greased Lightin' Green; Magnolia Magenta Gold; and Summer Lovin' Sun; Tim Holtz Vintage Photo around edges of all papers; Black Staz On
Stamp: Prima Finnabair Vintage Vanity (stamped on the letters)
Embossing Powder: Lindy's Stamp Gang Bonjour Butter and C'est la vie Cerise (embossed the letters0
Metal Embellishments:  The Flying Unicorn Garden Bloom
Flowers:   Prima Perle Bebe Almanac; Prima Paloma Melody;
Miscellaneous: Tim Holtz Clockwork Stencil; Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen and Viva Decor Light Blue Pearl Pen; Navy Blue Skeleton Leaves

Reality v. Imagination Canvas

Today I am sharing a 5" x 7" canvas I worked on yesterday.  I used tons of metals from Flying Unicorn and Finnabair (Prima).  The quote "Reality has limits - imagination is boundless."  Unfortunately, I don't know to whom the credit of the quote should go - I've just seen it several times without an author.  I added some texture, stamping and a few little faux gems.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Canvas: 5x7 canvas board by Art Alternatives
Paper:  Prima's Timeless Memories
Metals:  The Flying Unicorn Country Garden metals;  Prima Finnabair's Vintage Trinkets; Webster's Pages Cameo

Ink:  Inka-Gold Gold; Tim Holtz Vintage Photo (around edges of canvas); Black Staz-On for stamping

LAST TWO ART JOURNAL PAGES

These are the last 2 pages in my art journal, I am going to have to buy another one - or choose an old book for a redo -  not sure  yet what I'll decide.  After I gessoed the pages and dried them,  I did some background spritzing with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, dried between colors, found some old stamps and then colored the flowers and a few of the stalks with Inka-Gold colors.  I typed up the words to a quote I like and distressed it with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo, as well as the edges of the journal pages.

Thanks for taking a peek.
