Happy Birthday to Uncle Fritz

Friday, May 4th is my Uncle Fritz's birthday and he is going to be 85 - still drives, golfs and does his own yard work.  Although I've talked to him until I'm blue in the face, he won't give up doing his own yard work.  They are selling their house this Fall and moving to an Assisted Living facility duplex - where they have no yard work, they have a cleaning service that comes in once each week and they have the option of 3 cooked meals each day, he said they only would be doing 2 because they don't like breakfast.  My Aunt can no longer get around to cook, but they are both still alert, quick witted and can discuss today's most current headlines with ease.  But, they won't live so far away from medical assistance if needed, etc.  I'm so happy with their selection.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  SU Open Sea
Ink:  SU Not Quite Navy
Paper:  SU DP and CS
Accessories:  Twinery Marachino/White and Denim/White Twine

March Card Swap at Mark's Finest Papers

This is my card I submitted for the March Card Swap at Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  Each of us are to get 3 different cards back from the other girls.  I wanted to put a chaise lounge in the picture saying "reserved for Kathy" - but I passed on that idea.  Although wouldn't it be grand to be in a chair under a palm tree with an umbrella drink!

I can't wait to get my cards!

CCEE Challenge 1217

The challenge this week is to use scallops, flowers and buttons - which was given by Cindy Haffner, one of the DT members on CCEE.

I really like how this card turned out - the flowers are soft.  I used a new punch from EK Success - but I haven't a clue what it's called - sorry!  I also used 3 little miscellaneous buttons.

It's a fun challenge - to make your card or project and link it up on the CCEE challenge blog - and, don't forget to leave the DT some love!

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Field Flowers by SU
Paper:  MFP CS
Ink:  SU Going Gray and Bashful Blue

This card is for two challenges at Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.:  Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge 104 (Sewing - real or faux); and FOSTV Challenge 17 (Flowers).

Paper:  MFP CS
Ink:  Copics:  Y04, 02, 000; YG05, 03

My son had an electric train for a time when he was 3 years old, however, I think I had more fun with it than he did!!

My husband wanted to know why I didn't print the train station's name better.  I told him because in the Westerns I've seen - a lost of the signage was hand painted - and not always neat - hence the "not so perfect script".  I do like how it turned out, not too much on the card - but the train and sign say it all!

Another challenge already - wow - time is just flying so quickly!  Cindy Haffner is giving us the challenge this week to make a car or project using pink/white/black.  As you can see, this is a rather simple card, but I'm not sure that it would be considered a CAS - because of the pearl swirl - but I don't care - because I like the pearls!

There's Magic in the Air Challenge - 04-16-2012

This card is for Paper Cupcakes challenge at There's Magic in the Air.  This challenge is given by one of my very talented teammates - Shirley Quarry - to make a card casing one of the members of our DT.  So, I chose to CASE my sweet friend, Shirley, and picked one of her wonderful Christmas cards.  We were to stay pretty close to the layout, but instead of going round, I had to go rectangle to fit the sentiment that came with the image.  I used twine instead of ribbon and Bella's Baubles in brown instead of the flowers.  The inside of the card says "is to let it rain!"

Card Recipe:  April Showers digi by Paper Cupcakes
Paper:  Authentique Blissful DP; MFP 140 lb. white
Ink:  Copics:  Hat/Dress:  Y18, 08, 06, 04, 02; Hair:  E55, 53, 50; Skin:  E00, 000; Bench: E07; Umbrella: Y38, 35, 32
Accessories:  Yellow/White twine; Bella's Baubles - brown

This challenge runs for 2 weeks, so you have plenty of time to check out the images at Paper Cupcakes, make a card - and link it up on There's Magic in the Air.  (There are hot links above in the commentary to take you to either site).  There are tons of adorable images at Paper Cupcakes!

Thanks for stopping by.  Later Gator!
