Angels are Among Us

Hi All - today I am here with my altered piece for the 13 Arts Challenge 40 - Angels.  Below is a photo of how the piece looked prior to my alterations:

As you can see, it was just gold and black on both sides with a plain black base.

Here are a few more photos.  I normally don't use a flash - but I couldn't get a good shot of the colors, hence, the flash.

I used a combination of 13 Arts products and Finnabair products.  I used 13 Arts Black Gesso to cover the whole piece, but I watered it down a bit so that a bit of the gold would show.  I used many of Aida's paints and under the silver heart, is a beautiful metal silver piece I purchased from her store.  I also colored sections of Aida's net/doily pieces.  The metal pieces are from The Flying Unicorn and Finnabair and the flowers were just from a miscellaneous box. The back side of the wings aren't embellished - they are plain, but colored a deep purple over the black gesso.

I had a great time altering these wings.  At first, I was going to alter them in pastels - but I'm pretty sure there are angels out there that like the darker colors!
